Jane’s Blog: The Continuing Conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan

web-jane1It’s been eight years since America sent warriors to Afghanistan, and soon it will be eight years since men and women in our all-volunteer military have served in Iraq — some of them for two, three or four tours of duty.

The price those men and women have paid is unimaginably high — the wounds that we can see; the injuries from lethal, low-tech IED’s — and the wounds that show no scars, but are just as lethal.

They surface when a vet takes their own life, or self-medicates with drugs, booze or violence trying to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder.

This week on Radio Boston, you’ll hear from Massachusetts service members and vets who are living with and “managing” the consequences of war, multiple deployments and the toll it takes on these human beings.

For this broadcast, I’m making a request — please listen to these stories as if this is your experience… by imagining you have lived this life, by walking in their boots.

Thank you… Jane.

I wanted to thank Jimmy & John working on Veterans Farm out there. Loved the animal noises, enjoyed their seeming familial relationships both with all the workers, animal therapy is AWESOME!
I would love to just find a way I can help, I have nothing to donate but time, an intensely intelligent mind, un-pedigreed, stuck basically within a loop while getting older each and every day.

Thanks for the story, if there is any way I can lend a hand, or find myself in service, or reserves, please, contact me.
