I really couldn’t care less about this inauguration. As a middle aged woman I feel completely alienated from the Democratic party and the political process in general. The idea that the Democrats actually stand for anything, let alone any progressive change, is absurd. As for Barack Obama, he is a political opportunist who will first and foremost make sure he does whatever promotes his own interests and image. I realize that these sentiments are heresy to all of the starry-eyed leftists out there but I call them as I see them. This country is in abysmal shape and the reality is we can’t somehow clone FDR or JFK or the times they presided over. We are in uncharted waters on the economic equivalent of the Titanic and all Obama will do is rearrange the deck chairs.
