Dianne Wilkerson, the only African American in the State Senate, was stunned by her Democratic primary loss to Sonia Chang-Diaz. Wilkerson has launched a sticker campaign to try to hold onto the seat. The Chang-Diaz campaign says its time for a change in leadership, and that she will best represent the diverse district. Radio Boston will take a look at Wilkerson’s record in the Senate, the challenges of running a sticker campaign, and the role of race in politics, this Friday. there’s an african proverb, ‘that until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” right about now, most of the people of the 2nd suffolk are seeing the story of the hunt reflecting the agony and travail of the lion…and it’s a tired, tawdry, tragic episode. the drama is a distraction from a more significant and meaningful historical event.
I am writing to protest the failure to invite William “Ted” Leonard the Socialist Workers Party Canidate to this debate. Ted will be on the ballot having collected the required number of signatures by volunteer supporters. Given the serious questions concerning the economy and the next state and federal government administrations you do a disservice to your listeners by not including Ted.
Kimbo–
We have in fact invited Mr. Leonard to participate in the program. I’m hopeful that we can come to some agreement to have his participation. Thanks for your comment/suggestion.

Dianne Wilkerson is corrupt, she deserves to lose period.
She lost fair and square, she’s embarrassing herself now.
I am a conservative Republican who lives in Cambridge. (Yes, we are a rare and proud breed.) I doubt that Sandra Chang-Diaz and I agree on most policy issues, but I am cheering for her in this race. Senator Wilkerson is an embarrassment to both her Senate colleagues and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Kudos to Ms. Chang-Diaz for standing for integrity in private life and the rule of law in public life. We need more candidates like her, men and women who are willing to challenge conspicuous corruption.
I just wanted to comment that I was very disappointed that Mr. Leonard, The Socialist Worker Party Candidate, was given so incredibly little time as compared to the other two candidates and worse, was cut off as he was trying to make a final comment at the end of his interview. I understand the race is hotly contested between the other two candidates interviewed (Wikerson and Chang-Diaz) but I was sorely disappointed that radio boston couldn’t have given Mr. Leonard 30 more seconds of coverage! There ARE other parties besides the Rep.’s and Dem.’s and I personally think it’s time they get a bit more airplay. I am a registered Democrat and have been for my entire life but I believe that We the People certainly would do well to have more than two choices every election year. Especiallly with what the two major parties have morphed into.
Monica Brady-Meyeroff (please forgive misspelling) cut off Diane Wilkerson and Ted Leonard mid-sentence and was noticibly peeved when Mr. Leonard gently corrected her on the name of his political party. If she wants to host NPR on-air talks shows, it would behoove her to follow the lead of such hosts as Tom Ashbrooke and Neil Cronin, who epitomize graciousness to guests and callers with their patience and politeness, despite time limits and other costraints.
Dianne Wilkerson has been arrested by the FBI on charges of attempted extortion.
Like I said she is a corrupt politician.
The sooner we see the back of her the better.
She had the nerve to come on a show, knowing she took a bribe to for a favor.
It’s over for her.
